Do I need a permit to get started?

No! MRRA offers the SC DMV written test/beginner's permit test to become a licensed driver; however, if you already have your beginner's permit, you are ahead of the process. MRRA offers many options for your needs.

How long does it take to complete the class?

Completion time varies for each student. The pace depends on how quickly you master the material and driving skills.

Does the classroom have to be completed to start behind-the-wheel lessons?

Yes. You must complete the classroom or self-paced online portion and hold a valid permit before scheduling behind-the-wheel lessons. Lessons can be scheduled conveniently through our website.

What happens after I complete the class?

Upon completing Driver's Education training, students will receive the necessary documentation and information to present to the South Carolina DMV and their insurance company.

What is your refund policy?

All sales are final. No refunds will be issued for any reason; however, students may reschedule dates if necessary. We may make alternate arrangements if deemed necessary by the administration.

Do I need a temporary license to start driver's ed?

  • Under 18 years old: Must hold a beginner's permit for at least six (6) months before applying for a driver's license.
  • 18 years and older: Must hold a beginner's permit for a minimum of 30 days, or need a valid, unexpired learner permit before applying for a driver's license. If you are 18 or older, you'll need a valid, unexpired learner or driver's license to start driving lessons.

How do I get started?

It's super easy: review the services offered, register, pay on the website, or call our office for more information. 

How old do I need to be to start driver's ed?

You must be at least 15 years old by the first day of class and already hold a beginner's permit to enroll in Driver's Education.

What payment methods do you accept?

A down payment of $100.00 must be made before any services begin. The remaining balance must be paid before the skills test and/or road test service is administered. 

Enrollment is confirmed only when payment is made and the student (and/or parent/guardian) signs acknowledging these Terms of Service.

Do you offer payment plans?

What if I forgot my username or password?

You can reset your username or password on our website by clicking the "Forgot your Username or Password?" link on the login page.

Behind-the-Wheel

Can I request a specific driving instructor?

Yes. Our scheduling system displays all available driving lessons and their instructors. If your preferred instructor has an open slot, you may select them for your lesson.

Note: A certified third-party road tester will always conduct your final driving lesson. Choosing different instructors for other lessons may allow you to complete your training more quickly.

Are your instructors licensed?

Yes. All of our instructors are SC DMV certified, certified third-party testers, and AAA Defensive Driving certified.

Do you charge a cancellation fee?

If you have a scheduled driving lesson and fail to show up, or if you do not cancel or reschedule through our website at least 24 hours in advance, a $25 late cancellation fee will be charged.

Can I use my own car?

No. Our vehicles are equipped with special safety features, including passenger brakes, passenger mirrors, and student driver signs, that are not available in standard cars.

How do I schedule a behind-the-wheel lesson?

Log in to your student account on our website, select an available time, and choose your preferred instructor.

When can I start the behind-the-wheel lessons?

You can start driving lessons at any time if you have a valid learner's permit or driver's license. Lessons can be scheduled through our website once you are registered and paid in full.

Note: If you are under 18, you must complete the Driver's Education class before beginning behind-the-wheel lessons.

What will I learn during my behind-the-wheel lessons?

During your behind-the-wheel lessons, you will learn and practice:

  • SC DMV rules and driving procedures
  • Parallel parking
  • 3-point turns
  • 100-foot backing
  • Starting and stopping on a grade
  • Lane changes
  • Left and right turns

Will I have other students in the car with me?

No. Behind-the-wheel training is one-on-one. You will not be responsible for or share the car with other students.

Can I request to have lessons with a friend?

No. Behind-the-wheel training is one-on-one. You will not be responsible for or share the car with other students.

Will I have the same instructor for every lesson?

Our scheduling system displays all available driving lessons and their instructors. You may choose the same instructor for each lesson if they have open availability, or you can try different instructors.

Note: A certified third-party road tester will always conduct your final driving lesson. Using different instructors for other lessons may help you complete your training more quickly.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my driving lesson?

You may cancel or reschedule your driving lesson at least 24 hours before the scheduled time through our website.

No-Show / Late Cancellation Fees:

Late Cancellation Fee: $25 for any cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson.

No-Show Fee: $25 for each lesson that is missed without notice.

Do you offer home pick-up and drop-off?

MRRA may provide complimentary pick-up and drop-off services when available. (This service is offered as a courtesy and is not guaranteed.)

When using our pick-up and drop-off service, MRRA will arrive at the scheduled pick-up time. If the student does not appear within 10 minutes, the driving instructor will text both the student and the parent/guardian. If the student does not appear within 5 minutes, the driving instructor will leave, and there will be a "No-Show Lesson" fee charged.
